Dark Age Version 0.4.466 Released!

Only 16 days after the last one and here is another release.This one has quests and trading.If you find and bugs or problems please report them.

-Quests can be completed in the game.Quest rewards,minimum quest levels and quest prerequisites.
-Quest NPCs.Quests can be created in the world editor and added to units from their properties.
-Trader NPCs.Selling and buying items.
-When mouse cursor is over another NPC his name and hitpoints are displayed on the top of the screen.
-Pressing 'H' drinks a healing potion.
-Goblins drop gold or a random item from their inventory.The items can be set in the world editor.
-Brush and tool area indicators in editor.

Dark Age Version 0.4.358 Released!

Finally another release.
This one changed alot of stuff the most important one being the change from strategy to rpg.
In this release you can grab items from the ground,equip them and place them in your inventory,kill goblins (or get killed) earn gold and experience,level up,distribute skill points to four different stats.There is also some simple AI for goblins.Basically they walk around randomly and attack you if you get to close or shoot them from a distance.There is also collision detection with everything except trees.

I haven't balanced the stats yet so it is easy to kill the goblins but you can modify their stats from the world editor.In fact you can modify everything related with the map.Just dont change its name while saving because the game looks for that map.I'll change that later on.

Next on I'll work on quests and friendly NPCs for selling buying stuff.

Here is the change log as usual.
-Both player and unit hitpoints regenerate over time when out of combat.
-Goblins drop gold and give experience.
-Level gaining and four different stats.
-Experience bar on interface panel.
-Character page.
-Goblins follow the player if he/she gets too close.
-Right clicking an item in the inventory equips or unequips it.
-Items can be arranged in inventory,or destroyed by clicking on the ground.
-Items are placed in inventory when walked over.
-Player can only fire arrows to the direction he is facing.
-Removed dawe.ini all settings are stored in userPrefs.ini.
-Selecting edit from the context menu in the editor displays a dialog to edit entities.
-Sounds can be enabled/disabled from the userPrefs.ini file found in the game directory.
-Spawning objects,units.
-Pressing "Z" will zoom to the selected entity in the editor.

Progress Update

I have done alot of work on Dark Age mainly on inventory class and items its still work in progress but I'll add it in the next release so you can play around with it.I also changed the game from turn-base strategy back to roleplaying.The main reason for this was ofcourse time.Creating AI for all the different kingdoms on the map would be much more challenging and time consuming.In a roleplaying game ill only focus on individual NPC AIs. I'll work towards a playable demo where you can loot items from killed monsters,do a few quests and explore the map.Think of it as an 3d version of nightfall.I'll add the latest revision to the site in a few weeks until then enjoy this screenshot from the starting location.


Update to Drupal 6.8

Just updated the site to drupal 6.8.

Update to Drupal 6.6

I have updated the site to drupal 6.6 and added a new module to track visitor count.

Assembla no longer hosts private projects so I removed Dark Age from assembla and set up an svn repository on a 2gb usb flash disk.I just carry it with me and checkout/commit on different computers.

I'm not going to make releases for Dark Age each month from now on,I want to make more progress before putting something on the site.Currently I'm working on cleaning the Win32 code in the library and spawning objects.For example a goblin hut will spawn a goblin every 5 turns or a wolf den will spawn a wolf every 10 turns etc..

Version 0.3.445 Released!

After a long month a new version is here with lots of new features.
Here is a complete list of the changes :
-Gathering resources or attacking a unit consumes all the movement points of the unit.
-Units spend movement points when moved,movement points are restored when the player ends his/her turn.
-Units can attack other units.
-Villagers can be recruited from houses.
-Villagers can gather resources.
-Particle system(snow rain)
-Resources display amounts when selected.
-Sounds on interface buttons.
-Building construction.
-The game can be started from the editor.Tools/Run Game
-Units have defense and range stats
-Custom game cursor.
-Tooltips in the game.

Unit animations are still missing and the models are far from perfect.Also the enemy units don't have any AI they just move around randomly and attack your units if they get close.The rain and snow starts randomly and go for a while.Each minute or so two random checks are made to determine whether there will be a weather effect and what will be that effect.Then according to the results it either snows,rains or nothing happens.
Combat is simple at the moment depending on the attacker attack and defender defense stats a random check is made if its a hit or miss.If its a hit then the attackers damage is subtracter from the defender.These results are show on the units as floating texts.
